Why China Is Beating The U.S. In Electric Vehicles

  • Gepubliceerd op 2 maanden geleden

    CNBC

The global electric vehicle market is heating up and China wants to dominate. The country has invested at least $60 billion to support the EV industry and it’s pushing an ambitious plan to transition to all electric or hybrid cars by 2035. Tesla entered the Chinese market in 2019 and has seen rapid growth.

China sold roughly one million more EVs than the U.S. in 2020. But there are signs the U.S. is getting more serious about going electric. President Joe Biden announced a goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and investments in green infrastructure. Watch the video to find out how China came to dominate the market and whether it’s too late for the U.S. to catch up.

Wait till China runs out of fossil fuel to crank their electric grids, or when glitches in the programming or applications to run the system, or when hackers sow problematic viruses or trojans much like what Israel probably does to make haywire in Iran's nuclear programs, then the vulnerabilities of this total dependence of Shenzhen in their electrical systems will surface - because in reality this city hub is similar to a computer brain with myriad of components and accessories, smooth sailing until one item like the printer does not work and the flow is disrupted, but with more system components present here than a business computer system, so let the system age a few years or decades and it may become decadent or blah after the blitzes and lights have lost the glamor similar to that of a new toy, and that to their chagrin find out hat the ohs and ahs and wows and woes of human interactions are hankered for in a mechanized, electrified milieu, that the human components are the more meaningful over the machines in the progression of civilization, in the pursuit of happiness for mankind, that a rush to digitalization and artificial Intelligence blunts or blights off the sober weighing of other alternatives that, if such more desirable alternatives are discovered, dismantling and replacing these gigantic so-called futuristic infrastructures when obsoleted, the CCP finds itself unable to extricate, causing upheavals in the social fabric and hasten its demise.

Tesla, GM, Ford all are in China, but no Chinese EV companies are in USA. It is remotely possible that they can be dominant. Besides they promised so much on green energe that they are afraid lossing face meeting their target and become an international laughing stock by other countries😊 It is all about X's face. It is more about interal concerns than about other countries. Currently, America companies are dominant in Chinese EV field, not the other way around.

China is NOT beating the US in electric vehicles, despite this propaganda sponsored by the CCP. A bunch of government subsidies and a lot of technology stealing has merely led to China producing a lot of electric golf carts with roofs, that they call electric cars. These would not meet US road and highway safety standards, and are not comfortable or desired by US consumers. Who is beating China in electric vehicles? Tesla, VW, and GM. And probably others to come. As long as China is a communist dictatorship, they will never lead the world in anything other than suppression of their citizens.

Not true. The CCP may be good at depriving their citizens of their rights, and good at stealing technology from the West, but they have yet to be "better" at anything of value. If you watched this video, it shows that China is pumping out a lot of cheap electric "golf carts with roofs" that they call cars. That's after a bunch of subsidies for EVs and a lot of penalties for ICE vehicles.

all the talks about government subsidies. but no one talks about the real facts: It's easier to skip the average 20~30 years needed to develop and refine a gas engine(which the western countries dominated), however, skipping directly into the EVs letting China to start from the same level as the rest of the world. It's the RIGHT government policies to support such EV industries. Not like in the US everything is about profits and talks. In China, everything is about planning, planning and then REAL government commitments. The US needs to learn getting used to seeing the tail light of China.

This is silly. China didn't develop better EVs. They copied some Western EV technology and they are now making a lot of cheap, crummy, "electric golf carts with roofs" thanks to subsidies for EVs and penalties for ICE. In no way is communist China making EVs that are as good as those of Tesla, VW, or GM. No the USA does not need a communist dictatorship running things.

You are ignorant. The US cares about the future much more than the Chinese Communist Party. The CCP only cares about staying in power, not about the rights of their citizens. The CCP does not lead the world in any technology, the steal it from the West. And if you think that cutting down carbon emission equals "caring about the future", the fact is that China is pumping out CO2 at an accelerating rate vs. the US/West which is reducing it. You clearly have emotions (fueled by Marxist propaganda) but no command of the facts.

Chinese electric vehicle (EV)-related shares rallied on Wednesday, after US President Joe Biden appears to be recognizing China's lead in the EV sector as he sought to pitch a massive plan to boost US' EV industry to compete with China. While Biden was trying to highlight the urgency for the US to step up its EV development, his remarks prove to be a boost of confidence in major Chinese EV companies, which, analysts say, have gained an overwhelming edge across the industry chain that US firms may not be able to challenge in the short term.

Cool if we could just remove those pesky rules about strip mining we could dig up all that lithium catch china in no time! Burn that dirty coal charge that EV baby! But even then we would need to remove those pesky rules for the factories who make the cars. About 90% of the trash in the ocean comes from one country. I wonder if its the same one that leads in EV production? Also happens to be one of the largest importers and consumers of ...wait for it... oil. But hey if it makes ya feel good, must be worth it.

But will the batteries last ? The heart of the electric vehicle is it's very expensive battery pack and if that fails early any savings are toast . Same with solar power if the solar panels fail early . Making the most cars is not a measure of how good they are , and if customers will buy another one . Time will tell. It's like the people who review cars . They drive a car for 5 minuets and declare it a wonderful vehicle . They should review them again after 7 years and see how good they really were .

Still, EVs have to evolve as Nio did designing vehicles with removable batteries. Changing batteries at "gas stations" would be much quicker and also would ensure: a) to have a battery that has been checked and refurbished during the whole vehicle's life b) to have the last technology product on batteries as the technology improves. Standardization is a must. In Sweden, there is a company that is planning to build a network of this system
